CityZen project
CityZen is a project, where the goal is to create a space in a public spaces giving possibility to people to feel themselves. Is it through meditation together? Or just forming a circle and just seating together. There is only one rule, when you enter a space, you are becoming silent, even if it is for 5 seconds, you stay silent. While around you there may be thousands of people passing by, protests happening, but inside all of this there is a silent space, which allows people to rest, maybe event to sleep, to smile or to cry.
More about the urban context.
What are we missing in our cities? Is it greens or maybe blue spaces? Or maybe it is something else, something about the people, commons and deeper sense of connections, which we may have lost in our cities. How we can reinvent and deepen our cities with the new collective neo-rituals? The simple experiences similar to moments in calm temples in our cities may bring the difference to our spaces and to our heads.
How the CityZen is organized?
Usually we choose the busiest district in the city for the project. In Paris it is square of the Republic. We choose a space in the shade, draw a circle around to frame the space, put the explaining paper around us and sit in silence in the circle. We usually have someone around us to protect the space from outside.
CityZen project us a search of a possibility to bridge the gap between busy city landscape and a calm dojo space, space of calm safe without words connection. Citizen project connects to a city as anthropological city lab observation space, inspired largely but the project with citizens in Munich, Germany and resiliency circles practiced during the Relational Embodiment residency in Bergerac Life itself hub.
